John Ziesenhenne was born and raised in Richmond, where he developed a lifelong dedication to his community. A graduate of Harry Ells High School, Contra Costa College, and U.C. Berkeley, John has combined his education with a passion for leadership and service.

In 1981, he was elected to the Richmond City Council, where he served with distinction until 1993, focusing on initiatives that strengthened the city and its residents. Professionally, John has been an insurance broker with M.A. Hays Co. since 1983 and owner since 1993, continuing to operate the business in Richmond.

Beyond his professional career, John is deeply involved in volunteer work, supporting numerous nonprofits in Richmond. Encouraged by community leaders Rich Granzella and Eddie Menosse, he joined the Board of the West County Salesian Youth Club and now serves as President. Under his leadership, the Club has successfully raised funds and expanded programs that empower local youth.
